What Sale Requirements do
Some items shouldn't be sold anonymously — a membership needs to land on a member's account, an ID-bound pass needs a photo, a PT session only makes sense for someone who already holds a gym membership. The Sale Requirements section on every product's create and edit page tells the POS what to demand before that item can be sold.
Require customer details
Turn this on and the POS blocks checkout until the cashier attaches a customer to the sale. Use it for warranty-tracked items, ID-bound passes, or anything you need a purchase record tied to a person.
Memberships always require a customer — when the product is a membership the switch is on and locked automatically, since the subscription must attach to a customer account.
Require customer photo
Turn this on and the POS captures a photo of the customer at the point of sale — typically the member-ID shot for gym or club memberships. The photo is stored on the customer's record. A photo the customer uploaded themselves in the app does not satisfy this; the store must capture it. Requiring a photo implies requiring a customer, so the cashier will be asked to attach one first.
This works on any product type, and it sees through bundles — if a bundled component requires a photo, selling the bundle requires it too.
Prerequisites: require another membership first
For membership products you can add Requires Active Subscription To — a list of other memberships the customer must already hold. Classic example: PT sessions require an active gym membership.
- Any one of the selected — holding any listed membership qualifies (e.g. Monthly OR Annual).
- All of the selected — the customer must hold every listed membership (e.g. Membership AND Locker rental).
Prerequisites are enforced at member check-in; at the point of sale the cashier sees a warning but can proceed. Changing the rule affects future sales and renewals — already-sold subscriptions keep the rule from when they were purchased.
Seeing requirements at a glance
The Products list has a Requirements column showing each item's rules as badges: Customer, Customer photo, and Requires … for prerequisites (hover to see the full list and whether it's any/all).
Related settings elsewhere
- Store-wide: Settings → POS Settings → Require Customer makes every checkout require a customer, regardless of product.
- Per order type: Settings → Dining Options → Require customer info on a specific fulfillment type (e.g. Delivery orders always need a customer).
